Voor de mensen die overwegen de Weatherlink 6555IP te kopen heb ik hier een belangrijke beperking in het Engels.
Liefst vertaald dat iemand voor jullie:
WeatherLinkIP and VWS

Davis is advertising the WeatherLinkIP. It would be nice to have for my situation. However the FAQ says:
"Will WeatherLinkIP work with other weather software programs?
No, at this time only WeatherLink 5.8 can communicate with WeatherLinkIP."
Is there a plan/ETA for compatibility with VWS?

Probably not. Davis has a track record of not actively supporting 3rd party programs.
I have an IP Davis interface in development and testing right now. It wouldn't be too hard to add a file upload that mimics the file that VWS uses for "stationless" mode. The only thing is that, the market model for my device is that it uploads only to our server. (Kinda like Davis, I don't really want the hassle of supporting file uploads to random FTP servers.)
However, it might be possible to upload the file to our server and then have your VWS get the data from there. Or have our server assemble the file on demand from data in the database from the last upload. Either way it happens would be transparent to you.

I did check with Ed. His response:
"Yes, but they would need to write a driver for us."
So, I have dropped a note to Davis that I would like to upgrade but won't unless it works with VWS. Perhaps if others did the same thing, they would see some economic benefit to providing the driver. Then again, maybe not.
As for your suggestions, I am using a soil moisture station along with my VP2 ISS. I would want to be able to access all data. Would that be possible with what you are proposing?

Davis customers and myself have been asking them for YEARS to support sending data to weatherforyou.com/HAMweather (now PWSweather.com). Their response a couple months ago was they've never had anyone ask. I started asking in 2001 when Davis added WU to Weather Link. Their response was to give WU the module to distribute and tell me we had to develop our own interface. After buying multiple Davis weather stations and recommending their products to dozens of others I was very disappointed in their response. Now they've added WU to WeatherLinkIP and said they "might" add PWSweather.com IF they continue development.
I really, really hope Ed has a much better response from Davis. After all, he's probably sold hundreds of their weather stations.

I got the following response from Davis. So at least they are consistent in ignoring us.
"The IP datalogger will only update to our weatherlink.com web server. there is no way to get this to work with any other 3rd party servers, unless you use the older serial or USB datalogger and use a com port bridge that VWS must have. VWS cannot use the IP logger and we have no such driver.
Weatherlink.com only reports with CWOP, GLOBE or Weather UnderGround only at this time."

REALLY glad that I read this thread !
I had decided to upgrade my OS WMR968 to Davis VP and allmost had my credit card in my hand to buy a Vantage Pro2 Wireless with WeatherlinkIP to link to VWS when I thought that I'd check if others had VWS working with WeatherlinkIP.
Just as well that I did - sounds like this is not going to happen so I may need to reconsider.
Has anyone thought of a way to get the VP talking to VWS with the IP attachement connected or has everyone given up ?
Davis support advised that Weatherlink IP "will send information to your webpage on weatherlink.com
and to your PC on the same Ethernet network that the WeatherLink is connected to. "
I was hoping that meant that there was some way to get the data on the local PV into VWS ?
Any ideas folks ?
regards
Dave
